Story telling process for the theme: Ultimate Black
For today's class, I am going to discuss the concept for the theme via the story, because the story telling element will let me know exactly what the theme is about and how I can convey the project as well.
For the longest time, my characters, especially the one's I have made in 2011 and 2012, were in some form related to black. Although I had not given too much thought about what that black form of the characters would do, I can take the oppertunity to describe that in a form of a story now.
I had particularly chosen this theme, Ultimate Black, first of all, merely becasue I have my characters and their 'Black form'. The characters transform and their visuals change from colour to just black and white. The characters have the ability to morph their limbs into mechanical components and use them as weapons. There is a cyborg-mecha style theme to these characters and black is their overall representation to their forms.
The story behind these Black forms come from pressure, where these characters are going through series of events that they need to resolve or otherwise them, along with possibly, the world, goes into chaos. Some of the characters' friends also end up betraying them leading them into doubts, confusion and anxiety. I do not want to show deep deppression in my characters but more of frustrations as they let their anger 'do the talking'. The characters have special powers known as 'blue blood', once activated with emense emotions, helps them transform into their Black form.
However, for the main character, Subbi, he can go one step further by allowing his anger to elevate him and his power to 'Black Evolved'. This is where he reaches to an emoational state that his only purpose is to get the job done, by sheer power and aggression. Subbi at this point has the ability to morph his body into virtually anything, and also his powers multiplied to a significant value.
These are my overall thoughts for the Black forms of these characters, however there is one other character that does not totally relate to the other characters but carries a similar theme, and this is Demir with his Delta Form. This is similar to Black form except there is not 'blackness' about it. Demir and Subbi both have the same blue blood meaning they can activate the same type of transformation, but instead of frustration and anger, Demir's emotions are mostly, 'last resort' or 'losing hope'. This is where he transform and has basically all the exact powers to Subbi and other characters except he is the strongest.
These are my overall thoughts about these characters and their background for their transformation, however there's more to the story than emotions, it is just that I have not thoroughly thought of the plot exactly and how to incorperate them. However, I always loved the concept of black in my character, it gives an aggression and intimdation, and it also goes well with mecha-style design as well.
